Now in its 4th year, the ‘Youth of the Ummah’ (‘YOU’) held a special programme for varsity students on 14 February 2014 at the various tertiary campuses in KZN. The programme was strategically held on the first Friday of the academic year coinciding with the Jumuah lecture.
It was a day of joy for many scholars at the Mariathal School, about 5 km away from the town of Ixopo.
Shaykh Muhiyudeen Awwamah, the son of well-known Madina-based scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Awwamah (Hafizahullah) intiated the idea of this unique conference which was hosted for the first time in Turkey. The conference held form 16 to 21 January in Azaadville , South Africa was the second conference of its kind organised by Sheykh Muhiyudeen that incorporated the Imam Nanotwi International Award.
Wednesday, 22 January 2014 was a special day for all the pupils of the Etshelihle Primary School, situated in Clernaville, New Germany.
A long awaited programme to once again acknowledge the selfless services of our respected mothers and sisters who assist Darul Ihsan on an on-going basis was held on Tuesday, 12 November 2013 at the NMJ Islamic Centre in Morningside. A congregation of close to six hundred volunteers many of whom are associated with the ‘Feed-a-Pupil ‘ and ‘Feed-a-Patient’ projects attended the programme that culminated in a sumptuous lunch. The pro bono services and contributions of those present were acknowledged and motivation towards steadfastness and sincerity was delivered.

Ulama members of Darul Ihsan Centre were invited by the Newcastle Islamic College to address certain contemporary issues and challenges educators faced on managing teenage learners.
This year saw Darul Ihsan’s first Qurbani (Slaughter) programme in Durban. The Qurbani programme was held on Thursday, 17 October at Castle Hill, a suburb in the greater Newlands West area.
A Darul Ihsan team of Ulama and members undertook a field visit on Saturday, 05 October 2013 of the low cost homes built by the centre. The delegation comprised of Maulana Imran Vaid, Maulana Ahmed Kathrada, Maulana Sabir Ibrahim, Hafez Farouq Ansarmeah, Haji Muhammad Shafee and Brother Anwar Hamid.
Of all the days in the week, the Mubarak day of Jumuah is the most blessed. The day of Jumuah is crowned with the two Khutbahs and two-rakaat Fard salaah. The two Khutbahs are delivered in Arabic - as has been done from the time of the Sahaba (RA).
Darul Ihsan Centre - in its on-going educational initiative to the community - presented several programmes in various Masajid/Musallahs on the importance and technicalities of Qurbani by way of ‘Know About Your Knife, Animal, Meat and Skin’ lectures.
The Road to Marriage programme held on Saturday, 5 October 2013 at the Raza Mustafa Masjid in Woodview, Phoenix drew good response from the local community. The 36 particiapants were most attentive to the informative presentations on various aspects of marriage. Among the topics dealth with were, the fiqh of marriage , practical aspects of daily married life, dealing with conflict situations, managing relationships and ettiquettes of intimacy etc. The course was interactive with Q & A segments.
Darul Ihsan’s ‘Feeding Scheme’ division provided a hearty lunch-time meal for about 100 people - mostly children - at the Phoenix Assessment and Therapy Centre on Friday, 27 September 2013.
The Y.O.U Activity Day drew the interest of 65 young and budding youth who participated in the outdoor programme on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 at the Groovy Balls adventure centre in Cliffdale. The group was accompanied by 5 Ulama facilitators and several volunteers who met at Masjid Taqwa in Sea Cow Lake and departed by coach around 8.15 am.
About 200 youth, including Huffaz, students and Ulama converged at Masjid ut Taqwa in Sea Cow Lake for the ‘Youth Night’ programme - hosted by Darul Ihsan Centre on Saturday, 27 July 2013.
