Darul Ihsan Centre, through its ‘Operation H20’ initiative to supply potable water to drought stricken communities, continued its outreach in the Intanda Rural Reserve – an area within the greater Inanda Township of KwaZulu-Natal.
Darul Ihsan Centre, through its ‘Youth of the Ummah’ (‘YOU’) department hosted a ‘How’z Your Aim’ one day activity programme for boys on Saturday, 09 April 2016 at ‘Infinite Adventures’ in Hillcrest.
Darul Ihsan Centre, through its ‘Operation H20’ initiative to supply potable water to drought stricken communities continued its outreach to Ulundi, in Zululand – one of 11 district municipalities of KwaZulu-Natal.
Currently large areas of KZN are experiencing severe drought conditions and Ulundi is no exception. Despite recent rains the drought is continuing unabated.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, 10 April 2016, the ‘Operation H20’ team comprising Ulama members of Darul Ihsan Centre, volunteer community members that included children, youth and adults loaded two trucks with bottled water at the Centre’s Sea Cow Lake office and departed for Ulundi.
The ‘Operation H20’ team - together with other local volunteer Ulama members and community members - distributed 20, 560 litres of bottle water among residents of the drought stricken community of Ulundi.
The ‘Muslim Empowerment Fund’ (MEF), a community upliftment initiative of Darul Ihsan Centre - in tandem with the ‘Operation H20’ team - distributed 480 stationery packs to many school children in the area and also distributed 300 packs of biscuit to residents.
Residents and community leaders of the area expressed their sincere gratitude to the ‘Operation H20’ team for the bottled water. The ‘Operation H20’ and other outreach initiatives of Darul Ihsan Centre are made possible through the generous and on-going contributions of the Muslim community.
Darul Ihsan Centre and the ‘Operation H2O' team place on record their sincere thanks and appreciation to all who contributed, assisted - particularly the youth and children - and made dua for this noble effort.

The nationwide drought has affected many areas in KZN and searing summer temperatures experienced in the region make drinking water ever more valuable for humans and animals.
The drought that has stricken the country has affected countless rural areas and the Ntambanana area of Empangani in KZN is no exception. The dire need for water in the community is worsened by the searing temperatures experienced in the region.
Darul Ihsan Centre’s ‘Operation H2O’ water relief project distributed 15, 100 litres of water in the drought stricken area of Melmoth, KZN.

Twelve teams competed against each other in an exciting day of a ‘Six-a-Side’ (under 14 boys) soccer tournament hosted by the ‘Youth of the Ummah’ (YOU) of Darul Ihsan Centre on Saturday, 13 February 2016 at the ‘Astro Turf’ facility of Al Falaah College.
In what was seen as a vacuum of historical information on pioneering Muslim scholars during the period 1860-1960 in KwaZulu-Natal, Maulana (Dr) Yunoos Osman and Dr Farouk Amod co-authored ‘The Early Guiding Stars of Kwazulu-Natal’ and presented the book to the public.
With the Grace of Allah Ta’ala, the ‘Taqwa School of Excellence’ - based in Johannesburg - has moved to its new premises.
The ‘Home Improvement’ team of Darul Ihsan Centre recently undertook a unique project to improve and renovate an old thatched roof wattle and daub house built in 1953.
As safety and security is a top priority in South Africa, ‘Darul Ihsan Centre’ has received calls/requests from households in poorer communities for assistance towards some measures to secure their homes.
The 2015 Summer school holiday ‘Youth of the Ummah’ (YOU) ‘Adventure Camp’ for boys between the ages of 12 and 18 has been a resounding success.
‘Youth of the Ummah’ (Y.O.U) - the youth wing of Darul Ihsan Centre - hosted a ‘Revive the Sunnah’ one-day activity programme for high school boys at Al Falaah College on Saturday, 10 October 2015.
A third session of the ‘Handyman Basics’ course in the ‘Skills Development Programme’ of Darul Ihsan was held at the centre’s Gem Towers office in Overport on Saturday, 03 October 2015.
Addiction to drugs and substance abuse is having a devastating impact on our society. Drugs have become a menace and a destroyer of lives in the modern world. Drug addicts are unproductive and burdensome. In order to support the drug habit, they may resort to any means - begging, stealing and criminal activities are common among them.
