The strike overwhelmed other available transport services in the city, with taxi associations from Durban Central, Durban South 1 and 2, Greater North, and Durban West participating in the shutdown. This action came after a number of issues between taxi drivers and provincial officials, more recently involving the impounding of minibuses in Clermont and KwaDabeka.
Taxis are now operating as normal, though solid resolutions between the City and Santaco are still developing.
